SUMMARY:350 Colorado Springs March Team meeting
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our regular 350 Colorado Springs team meeting: A space for collaboration and collective action to address the times we’re living in at the grassroots level. One of our main campaigns currently is to retire the Nixon coal plant on schedule and build a healthy\, just energy future for our city.\nWhether you’re brand-new to climate organizing or have years of experience\, you are welcome here.\nYou don’t need technical knowledge\, policy expertise\, or any kind of credentials to get involved\nEveryone brings something valuable: curiosity\, creativity\, concern for the planet\, or simply a desire to help.\n\nAt meetings\, we’ll:– Introduce ourselves– Share updates on the campaign to retire the Nixon coal plant– Share updates on other campaigns the team is working on– Plan upcoming actions\, outreach\, events\, and community education– Brainstorm ways to bring more voices into the movement and connect with other\, existing groups– Connect with others who care about clean air and a livable future\n\nThis is a great place to learn\, meet new people\, and plug into meaningful local work. We believe movements grow when everyone can participate at the level that feels right for them.\nCome as you are. Bring a friend. Let’s build a Colorado Springs where our energy system reflects our values.

SUMMARY:Author Jon Waterman visit to Colorado College - "Into the Thaw" presentation and book signing
DESCRIPTION:Pikes Peak Climate Education\, Colorado College\, and 350 Colorado are sponsoring a visit by Jon Waterman\, author of “Into the Thaw – Witnessing Wonder Amid the Arctic Climate Crisis.” Colorado College will have copies available for sale and Jon will sign copies after the presentation. \nJon Waterman’s travels to the Canadian and Alaskan Arctic Coasts\, between 1983 and 2022\, along with exquisite photography of the changing landscape\, ecosystems\, and indigenous people\, tell a captivating and alarming story unavailable to most Americans. \nIt is our hope to make his direct experience available to local citizens\, students\, and business and city/county leaders.  In turn\, we hope this will bring much needed awareness and support for climate action and policies here in the Pikes Peak Region and beyond. \nThe event will be in the Kathryn Mohrman Theatre in Armstrong Hall at Colorado College the evening the of 24 March. The event is open to the public\, free with an RSVP with donations welcome. RSVP/Donations link:  An Evening with Jon Waterman \nDoors open at 6:30 p.m. with the presentation beginning at 7:00 p.m.  There will be light refreshments\, time for questions and networking with local businesses and climate organizations. \nPPCE Waterman Flyer Full Page

SUMMARY:Clean Energy Action Team Weekly Meeting – Penrose Library
DESCRIPTION:Concerned about your rising utility bills? Want to make an impact in your community? Worried about air pollution impacting the health of you and your loved ones? Join us to raise your voice and help chart a path toward an affordable\, sustainable future. Meeting is in the Penrose Library Pine Room with an option to join virtually. \nRSVP here – mandatory if you plan to come virtually\, that’s how you’ll get the link \n\nHow to Help:\nJoin our Clean Energy Action Team to consistently work to protect your community! This is our weekly working group meeting where we’ll be discussing campaign strategy\, learning the best ways to engage our legislators\, and taking more actions to implement clean energy policy and ensure that Nixon is closed as scheduled. Our meetings are every Thursday from 5:45-6:45pm in the Penrose Library’s Pine Room. There is also an option to join virtually. \n\n\nThe Issue:\nColoradans deserve an affordable and reliable energy system that safeguards our climate\, strengthens community resilience\, and reflects our shared commitment to a healthier future. Yet Colorado Springs Utilities is working to keep its coal plant online past its retirement deadline\, endangering the health of communities and energy affordability. At the same time\, growing corporate energy demand—particularly from data centers—is driving new utility projects that will increase energy bills and entrench fossil fuel dependence instead of accelerating Colorado’s transition to affordable\, clean energy. \nCleaner\, cheaper options exist\, and we can realign the energy system so our state is powered by clean and renewable energy. By establishing clear clean energy requirements\, reforming utility incentives\, and empowering communities and regulators\, we can chart a more ambitious and responsible path toward a clean energy future. Read more here. \nWho We Are:\nThe Sierra Club\, 350 Colorado Springs\, Sunrise Mvmt\, and Mi Familia Vota work to defend everyone’s right to a healthy world. Our members are volunteers of all ages and experience levels who care about achieving better air quality\, addressing climate change\, and building a clean\, renewable energy future. \nEmail Olivia at owest@greencorps.org with questions.
