SUMMARY:PPAN's 2025 Bumble Bee Bash!
DESCRIPTION:With the headlines full of heartache and so many challenges\, one of the most essential actions we can take to sustain ourselves is to turn towards the good\, turn towards one another\, and celebrate our wins—even as we prepare for the next fight. \nThat is why the Bumble Bee Bash is such a beloved tradition for PPAN. It’s not just a fundraiser\, it’s a celebration and an opportunity to take in all that is good and refuel ourselves to keep up the good work. \nThis year we’re happy to have former Colorado Speaker of the House and EPA Region 8 administrator KC Becker joining us. KC was instrumental in the founding of PPAN and knows how to keep movements going and growing.\nWe’ll also have delectable food\, live music\, an open bar\, and a phenomenal auction*—all we need now is YOU! \nLearn more and get tickets here: https://givebutter.com/c/forthebees

SUMMARY:Local Public Hearing on State Sunlight/Long Well Pad
DESCRIPTION:SAVE THE DATE for this in-person ECMC Public Hearing. Your voice and presence are the only things standing between our families and this reckless fracking site. \nAs we get closer to the public hearing date\, the ECMC will provide an official RSVP link that will be shared with those that RSVP to this action network event. You may indicate on the RSVP if you would like to attend\, if you would like to give a comment to the Commissioners\, and if you will be bringing any children (childcare will be provided on-site). \nDoors will open at 4:45 pm. \nSIGN UP HERE \nWhy You Should Care & Why You MUST Show Up\nThe Sunlight-Long mega well pad isn’t just another oil & gas project — it’s a dangerous industrial site proposed right next to our homes\, schools\, and water supply. \nUniqueness of the Location = Maximum Risk \n\n32 wells placed on one 35+ acre pad (roughly the size of a shopping mall). Industrial drilling\, on a scale rarely seen in Colorado\, is proposed just over a half a mile from the closest homes.\nOver 10\,000 households within a 2-mile radius\, including an estimated 7\,800 children and 4\,000 seniors.\nJust 1 mile from two elementary schools and less than 2 miles from a middle school and high school.\nAurora Reservoir\, our city’s primary drinking water source\, is just 0.6 miles from the proposed Sunlight-Long mega well pad. Sunlight-Long drilling is not only proposed next to\, but also below\, this vital Aurora water supply. One accident or leak\, and we could be living through our own Erin Brockovich disaster. Do we really want to gamble with the water our children drink every single day?\n\nSunlight-Long Poses Major Health Risks\n\nOf great concern to community members\, children living within 3 miles of oil & gas wells have nearly double the risk of developing acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL)\, especially in high-activity areas (more from this critical study here). With the Sunlight-Long well pad\, 32 new wells are planned near our homes.\nThe Denver metro area ranks as the 6th most ozone-polluted city in the U.S.\, for the third year in a row (American Lung Association report). Since June 1\, our neighborhood has had 50 ozone alert days\, when children and seniors are advised to stay indoors. Oil and gas operations contribute 60% of Colorado’s ozone pollution (read more).\nFugitive emissions (toxic\, unmonitored vapors) from well pads will travel undetected into our homes\, posing serious health risks (EPA’s Methane Emissions page).\n\nWe only have one way to stop it: overwhelming public pressure \nramps\, elevators\, and accessible restrooms

SUMMARY:Fracking Action Committee Meeting “Don’t Frack the Aurora Reservoir!” EMERGENCY Info Session
DESCRIPTION:Our friends at Save The Aurora Reservoir are sounding the alarm\, this is the big one folks! And now it is heading for consideration before the Colorado ECMC. Let’s SHOW UP\, SPEAK UP\, and PUSH BACK against this dangerous plan to frack beside and under the Aurora Reservoir.  \nJoin the “Don’t Frack the Aurora Reservoir!” Emergency Info Session on Sept 9th\, 6-7pm to learn about the fracking mega pad up for State approval and how to take action against it! SUMMARY:Potluck for Peace
DESCRIPTION:Come together for an evening of music\, community discussions\, and organizing for peace. \nWe hope that this potluck will be a catalyst for building new connections and working together to form actionable items for a local organized and sustained peace movement. \nIf you have similar thoughts and feelings that too many movements rise\, fall\, and disperse\, and how do we create a community within a movement that is lasting. If you also feel that having a decent protest turnout\, calls and letters to elected officials are not enough and will not solve the systemic issues in our society and world. Then please join us at the potluck. \nBring a dish to share and let’s work towards a peaceful community together! 🕊️🍽️
