SUMMARY:Join us for a Nuclear-Free Pueblo Day of Action on October 25th!
DESCRIPTION:Since 2021\, Pueblo County Commissioners have been considering putting a nuclear power plant in Pueblo to replace the Unit 3 Coal plant. This is a dangerous idea for many reasons. \nPueblo’s County Commissioners\, as well as city and state elected representatives of Pueblo\, need to hear that nuclear power is not the right choice for Colorado. This is why we are working in coalition with our friends in Pueblo to make sure this nuclear proposal does not move forward. \nJoin us in Pueblo on Saturday\, October 25th for a full day of action!

SUMMARY:Concrete Couchella
DESCRIPTION:Concrete Couch\, welcomes friends\, family\, visitors\, strangers and all other community from past present and future to celebrate at its almost 8 acre park near downtown Colorado Springs. \nOther Performances\, Activities & Details \nKids’ Talent Show \nSince August\, The Couch has been hosting kids talent shows every Sunday at 11:30 am at Coyote Park. Unsurprisingly\, kids are surprisingly talented :). We have seen amazing\, dancers\, singers\, poets\, gymnasts\, comics and more. COUCHELLA 2025 will start off with 1 hour of Talent Show performance from 2pm – 3 pm (sign up at 1:45 pm). Each participant is welcome to perform for up to 5 minutes. Donations/tickets for contest entry are accepted. \nDancelympics \nDancelympics is the debut of the newest Concrete Couch program\, which is funded by Colorado Springs Health Foundation with the goal of creating sustainable health habits involving prolonged heart-rate-elevating activity for community-members of all ages. (Keep an eye out for the 40 upcoming dates throughout 2025 and 2026 at CONCRETECOUCH.ORG). \nEveryone is encouraged to participate. Contest entry is one ticket per sesh. \nTo join the contest\, just find a judge (they will be dressed distinctively)\, give them a carnival ticket for each sesh you want to support. They will give you a racing bib (if you don’t already have one)\, and write down your bib # on the clipboard for each sesh you’ve signed up for. NOTE: You can sign up at any point. You don’t need to participate for an entire session to be considered. \nDuring each sesh\, our esteemed\, and highly qualified judge(s) will be circulating with clipboard(s) in hand\, making note of the particulars of how each DANCELYMPIAN translates the music from groves into moves. \nFor this installment\, dancers will be observed and acknowledged in two categories: Style and Endurance. \nStyle = Any style is a good style\, whether it’s a memorized routine\, or completely improvised. No rules. Just decorate your space with movement. \nEndurance = Can anyone dance for an entire set? We’ll find out! Good luck! \n4:30 pm – Dancelympics #1 – (Dynador Sesh) \n6:00 pm- Dancelympics #2 – (Roma Ransom Sesh) \n7:30 pm – Dancelympics #3 – (Patchwork Jack Sesh) \n9:00 pm – Dancelympics #4 – (Gio Chamba Sesh) \nDANCELYMPIANS from each category will be acknowledged in between sets. \nLantern making and parade \nThis staple\, recurring art and performance project of Concrete Couch involves using twigs\, glue\, tissue paper\, up-cycled containers\, and whatever else to make glowy\, lanterny goodness come to life. Kids and adults are welcome to build lanterns at the lantern-making-station throughout the event and then disco-march during the evening parade. \n1 pm – 6 pm Lantern Making at the Lantern Making Station \n6:15 pm Sunset \n7:15 pm Gather ye paradelings (That’s You) !!! \n7:30 pm Patchwork Jack begins to play \n7:35 ish pm (at start of 2nd PJ song) Lantern Parade!! \nFundraising \nBefore The Event – Help us pack this next year with awesome free Concrete Couch programs\, events\, and public art builds\, by participating in our Online digital donations campaign. https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/peer-to-peer/couchella \nYou can either donate as an individual\, or start/join a fundraising team! We’ll be accepting cash\, card\, venmo\, and check\, or the corresponding number of carnival tickets. \nSilent Auction And Raffle \nWe have been talking to all of our favorite businesses and artisans over the past months and collecting a collection of the region’s most exciting goods and services\, vis-a-vis their generous donations to support our raffle and silent auction. Raffle tickets will be the same price as all the other tickets $5. We will have drawings at each musical set change\, so enter early and often\, to ensure you maximize your odds! Silent auction table will require bids\, top bidder at the end of the event will be the winner! Interesting prizes that we know of so far are 1 room from Kinship Landing\, a dope bike from Wheel Good BMX\, and a Plant Communion Fragrance from ROOTFOOT.COM (Natural Fragrances by Laura Huth). More to come! \nDisc Golf Tourney \nDid you know that there’s a 9 hole Disc Golf Course on Concrete Coyote Community Park? Well\, yep…there is! And at COUCHELLA on 10/18/2025\, we’re going to put you through it. It’s a challenging course\, so we recommend that you come hydrated and properly stretched. It’s important to never underestimate the importance of proper stretching in and hydration! Fee to enter is two tickets aka $10. Winner gets a prize and/or a handshake and heartfelt congratulations from incoming Concrete Couch Executive Direct\, Dustin Huth. Could be something cooler though. Potential sponsors email giving@concretecouch.org \nWait…..This Sounds Awesome And All\, But What Is This Concrete Couch Thing That We’Re Raising Money For? \nGood question! In short\, Concrete Couch’s mission is to build community through Creative Projects. In practice that means we are installing public art sculptures and murals on any surface that will hold still long enough to let us slap some mosaic tiles on it. And when I say us\, I mean you. Because YOU -put the YOUNITY in COMM-YOU-NITY. Is that too much? Probably. Suffice to say\, every project we do\, is in collaboration with our community on some level. We are here to teach skills\, and get people working together. Would it be easier to just go off and build stuff on our own\, with our fleet of highly skilled artists? Of course. But for us\, the most beautiful part of the art is not the art itself\, but the moments and the friendships created as a result of the collaborative process of building art together. If you know an organization or entity that understands this value\, please connect us. We would love to help beautify and build community together!
